High temperature composites for extremes
Ceramic Matrix Composites

The ability of ceramics to survive high temperature environments and maintain chemical stability makes them ideal for extreme environments – such as in aerospace or nuclear fusion applications. Using these properties in advanced composite materials opens up a variety of opportunities.
ATL has expertise in manufacture of SiC/SiC ceramic matrix composites (CMCs), mainly using our in-house CVI reactor. Research and development projects in this space are often part of a funded research programme with collaborators, or as part of contracts with customers – often end-users of CMCs.
Our in-house processes can involve applying interphase coatings, forming fabric into complex shapes and densifying to the customer's specification.
