John Yeatman
Calvin Prentice
John has been Managing Director of ATL since the retirement of the founder Nick Archer in 2006. He has been instrumental in developing many of the key processes and technologies that underpin ATL’s coating systems. John’s analytical problem-solving approach is well suited to the challenges of creating groundbreaking coating CVD coating systems.
John has a BA & MA in Chemistry from Oxford University. Joining ATL in 1983, he initially worked as a researcher, then project manager, then technical director – developing expertise in every area of business.
Since returning to ATL as Technical Director in 2005, Calvin has provided leadership to the development of the company's R&D capability. This includes development of a wide range of coating capabilities and technologies for a variety of applications. The team's focus is on providing tailored solutions to customers individual R&D requirements.
Calvin has a BA in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University and an MSc in Advanced Materials Technology from the University of Surrey. Calvin worked at ATL from 1986–1989 in the field of Chemical Vapour Deposition and since then has worked for a variety of companies within the field of ceramics, CVD and materials development – before returning to ATL in 2005.
The ATL team is led by joint owners of the business John Yeatman and Calvin Prentice. John and Calvin have over 50 years of experience in CVD, specialising in systems engineering and R&D, jointly solving multiple challenges to develop the state of the art of CVD.
